Osceola Consulting founder and CEO Kevin Narcomey was a speaker on the Prime Supplier Panel at the Southern California Gas Company (SoCal Gas) and San Diego Gas and Electric Company (SDG&E), 2018 Supplier Diversity Summit, on November 13 at The Gas Company’s Energy Resource Center in Downey, CA. The Event is convened annually by the two Sempra Energy Utilities to bring together key decision makers from both SoCal Gas and SDG&E, as well as their Prime Suppliers, to discuss how to effectively navigate the procurement processes at each respective Company. Diverse Business Enterprises (DBEs) invited to participate in the Summit can learn about business opportunities, and proper alignment with SoCal Gas and SDG&E procurement requirements, and can also make brief presentations on their capabilities, as well as participate in one-on-one matchmaking sessions.
The Prime Suppliers Panel, moderated by Michelle Cheeks from SoCal Gas, discussed what the two utilities look for, and the process for becoming a prime supplier, and the expectation that prime suppliers reach out to, and do business with DBEs, as well as partner in community development initiatives. In his comments Kevin noted, “Osceola started as a subcontractor with SoCal Gas in 2008 with four consultants and became a strategic partner with sixteen engagements across both Sempra Utilities currently.”
He added that, “Osceola’s mission is to be a cost-effective provider of high-value management consulting, and technology services by leveraging our low-overhead business model with proven management, and industry experience; and to honor our commitment as a diverse business enterprise through valued contributions to community and supplier development initiatives.” He concluded that, “I can truly say that Osceola Consulting would not be the company it is today without SoCal Gas’ and SDG&E’s ongoing support and commitment to supplier diversity.”
